It's spring of 1973 and the battle of the sexes is is in full swing, the troops are home from Vietnam, homosexuality is no longer an official mental health disorder, and the village of Stone City, Iowa is preparing for the first-ever American Gothic Festival celebrating their internationally famous artist-son Grant Wood (you know him, he painted the omnipresent and endlessly parodied image of the couple with the pitchfork). Mother Nature didn't get the memo. Siblings Anna, Vince and David Mannville are at the center of it all trying to balance their respective aspirations and obligations. A trainload of stranded passengers complicates matters. What havoc will that wreak? Find out in this new musical chockfull of tensions and humor springing from the the epic year that was 1973.
